Sweet Boozes - handmade gifts

Last year we did this:

Pear Drop and Sarsaparilla Vodka!

Simply pour vodka over some sweets - Pear Drops and Sarsaparilla work most excellently :) Something like Kola Kubes, Pineapple Kubes or Aniseed Balls would work too. Some boiled sweet suggestions here. Leave for a few days, remembering each day to give the jar(s) a little shaky shaky, maybe a tasty tasty...

The alcohol dissolves the sweets and leaves a syrupy liqueur-type drink. Decant into bottles and voilĂ   a handmade Christmas gift that doesn't cost a fortune, is easy to make and looks fab in a little labelled bottle ready for gift-giving!

*Drink responsibly ;)

Christmas mania!

Another Christmassy-fuelled post.

I seem to be spending most of my time glued to this flippin' laptop. If it's not sorting out orders and invoicing, it's to do website admin and other annoyances.

Actually, I'd rather be curled up on the sofa indulging in a spot of hot chocolate drinking and scoffing some lardy pastries, but apparently that's not how one carries out the working day. I'm not sure the Mr appreciates my working methods...

We now have a clever contractor who is sorting out our website angst and we're really pleased to have him on board, so a huge thanks to our new man Jay. Hurrah!

It's been all about the poo again this week (have a look at our Facebook for a Christmas give-away...)

And candy canes

We've sold out of these little minty beauties twice in the last seven days, so we're well and truly stocked up now. They look great on a Christmas tree (if you can resist eating them, that is).

We have four Christmas fairs this weekend so it's back to being busy and the skilful art of packing the car so all of our sweets and treats fit in properly (obviously I don't do the packing - I have zero spacial awareness, so the clever Mr does that for me).

So back to not stuffing my face and working my way down my growing TO DO list. Pah.

Christmas Poo!

Hello :) It's been such a loooong time in between the few blog posts I've managed to make!

We have had a busy old year, with not much time for blogging, but I suppose it's a must these days. By the time we've added items to the website, Tweeted them, pinned on Pinterest, had a chat on Facebook and hand-packed a zillion bags of sweets, it really is time for bed!

It doesn't seem two minutes since we breathed a sigh of relief after the wedding fairs finished and now we're catapulted into Christmas. The year seems to all merge together.

Look at these cool biscuits trees from Loralee Lewis:

This is Sweet Traditions' favourite cakey lady's creation, Fairycakes By Natalie - 15 delicious cupcakes make this amazing Christmas tree.

This is one of our most popular Christmas ranges: Snowman and Reindeer Poo! The children love it and so do the adults.

Here is one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite Christmas movies: Love Actually since we're approaching Christmas!

Catching up...

Another long space in between posts - so busy here! With the Jubilee having just passed, we managed to sell our entire stock of Jubilee Rock - a great addition for parties and celebrations. We also supplied parties and events with candy buffets too. We're now awaiting the next delivery of Olympic Rock, so watch this space for another colourful addition.

We have managed to sneak in a little family holiday with friends to France, and are just getting back on track with orders and admin. And the giganormous holiday washing pile which actually, doesn't seem to be going down at all. Hmmmm.

So France. Awesome, in one word. Paris was just spectacular and I absolutely loved every second. Can't wait to go back and indulge in more museum and book shops. I was completely absorbed.

We also had a little reccy around a sweet shop in France. To be honest, it was mostly mad candy colours with an astonishing amount of E numbers, guaranteed to make one's child crazy! So we didn't indulge, but we did notice an absence of traditional sweets. Perhaps the French are just not that fond of Mint Humbugs and Cinder Toffee!

Back on the admin highway now, so we will hopefully be able to blog a little more.

Another busy week here, with all things sweet (did you see what I did there? Did you?! I know, pathetic. I'm soooo tired...).

This time of year gets really busy for us, with the start up of our spring fair commitments and also weekend markets. Weather depending, of course! And with the good ol' Blighty weather being so reliable <insert ironic symbol here> some days, we don't know what we're doing until we see rain or shine (predominantly rain with the April showers combined with crazy hail and wind onslaughts).

And now we've added to the workload with the website, it's just a case of juggling time into the right boxes.

So while Mr Sweet is currently working 7 days a week out with our deliveries and markets, I feel permanently glued to the laptop, dealing with the administration. It's a bonus that I actually love what I do!

We'll be having a give-away next week, to celebrate our website launch - keep a look-out for our next post and you could win yourself some sweetie treats.

Oh, and don't forget we have a 15% discount coupon for any orders via the website until midnight Sunday. Use SWEETAPRIL1 at the checkout:

Have a groovy weekend :)

We are online!

Avalanche Creative have sorted us out and we are good to go! After a dodgy 6 month stress with They Who Shall Not Be Named, we found a capable design team to put our online vision into action. We're so pleased with the outcome and are really looking forward to this new direction in our business.

Keep up to date with us at our blog here, where we will be chatting about all things sweet, interviewing some fabulous suppliers and doing some super-sweet give-aways!

Check us out at Sweet Traditions!
